Casa Loma

History of Casa Loma:

-Sir Henry Pellatt was a very important person concerning Casa Loma

-at the age of twenty he got married and went to Europe with his wife

-he found a great love for art and architecture, so that then inspired him to construct Casa Loma

-after Pellatt left Casa Loma it was vacant for many years

-in 1933 Toronto wanted to make this castle into a school, museum, art gallery, etc....

-the castle then became a tourist attraction around 1937

-in August of 2011 a new Casa Loma corporation was formed 

-today Casa Loma is a very large attraction for many people

         

Rooms:

In my opinion, when I visited Casa Loma I found the history very fascinating, and all of the rooms very beautiful. This is a great tourist site and something you definitely want to see some day. All of the rooms in this house are so pretty, and the towers are very fun climbing up them too. The art work is beautiful, and so is the amazing architecture.

Gardens:

These gardens surrounding the castle are very beautiful. I have walked around in these gardens before and they are so gorgeous. These gardens have been kept up for many years, and more and more people keep coming to see how beautiful they are. All of the gorgeous fountains and flowers look so great together, and is something you definitely want to see. The gardens of Casa Loma are very beautiful.

Ashford Castle in Ireland

Ashford Castle in Ireland 

History of the Castle:
-this castle goes all the way back to 1228 AD
-it was founded by the Anglo-Norman family 
-then in the 1700s the owners change to Browne family and they add a lot of French interior
-then after many owners and years later the castle was then bought by Galway Entrepreneur and Hotelier Mr. Gerry Barrett in 2008
-in that same year it opened as a hotel and is still one today

These pictures are few or the many rooms in this castle/hotel. In my opinion, these rooms are so beautiful, and from what I read it would be a great hotel to stay at especially if you are looking for great views everywhere you go. These rooms have some French interior in them from one of 
the former owners in the 1700s. All of these rooms are very beautiful throughout this castle from what I have seen so far.

These gardens are all surrounding this castle on each side. I think that these gardens are very beautiful and give the castle character. The fountains and the flowers look so beautiful together. This would be a great site to visit, and an amazing garden to walk around outside too.

Exteriors of Castles from the 1900s:

Longford Castle in Wiltshire, England.

                                      

Sir Thomas Gorges had this castle built in a triangular shape. There were many beautiful gardens throughout its exterior. These gardens were restored in about 1654 for Lord Coleraine. In about 1832 the Third Earl of Radnor made a garden on the south side of the castle. In the 1870s these gardens were longer, and they got restored. In my opinion, these gardens are very beautiful and give this castle a great look on the exterior.

These two pictures are the gardens, and exteriors of the Longford Castle. Each picture is set on a different angle. I admire the gorgeous statues throughout the garden, and also the variety of flowers too. 

Glamorgan Castle in Alliance, Ohio

This castle was built from the company of Thomas R. Morgan Sir. He started to run a company that built many things. In 1973 some Alliance City Schools bought this castle and also some of its land too. They use it for schools administrative offices. My opinion on this castle is that it is set up very nicely, even though there is not much of a garden the land it's on is still very beautiful, and so is the castle too.                                           

These two pictures show different angles of the exterior of the Glamorgan Castle. I think that it has a beautiful exterior, but not much garden though. It has a small part with a garden which is nice, and also the picture at nighttime is beautiful, showing the presence of the castle just standing there.

Highclere Castle

 Castles from the 1900s

History of the Highclere Castle:
-first opened in 1842
-during World War 1 Almina, the 5th Countess of Carnarvon transformed the castle into a hospital 
-patients began to arrive in September 1914
-Almina was a nurse and extremely skilled healer to all of her patients 
-in 1922 the castle became a private home again-the owner was now 5th Earl of Carnarvon
-then during World War 2 the castle became a place for kids from north London to evacuate to
-Earl and Countess of Carnarvon live in the castle/near by it so they can still manage it to this day

This is the Highclere Castle today in Hampshire, England, United Kingdom. 

Rooms in the Castle: 

These are a few of the many rooms throughout the Highclere Castle.

This is the Saloon Room. It is known as the heart of the house. It was designed by Thomas Allom with a gothic style for the 4th Earl. The walls were made of leather. The leather was hung there in 1862.

This is the library. This is also known as the "withdrawing" room. The 4th Earl discussed politics here with his friends. There are over 5,650 books in this library.

This is the music room. The ceiling was painted in the 1730s by Francis Hayman. The walls are hung up with embroidery from the 16th century. 

This is the drawing room. They used French silk to decorate this room. This room leads right into the smoking room.

This is the smoking room. There are Dutch paintings in this room from the 17th century. There is also some 19th century art hanging on the walls from a Grand Tour.
